Got some sweet pics of the latest crane accident up at Syncrude for your viewing pleasure. It looks like the yellow crane overloaded and then crashed down on the gantry (weight section) of the red crane.
TOTAL CRANE CARNAGE!
Six Syncrude workers were injured when a crane fell on a trailer at about 10:30 p.m. Monday night.
One of the six was rushed to Northern Lights Regional Health Centre for assessment but was later released, said Syncrude spokeswoman Kara Flynn. The other five were taken to the Syncrude medical centre at the site, where they were assessed and later released.
“At this point we’re still doing the investigation into the cause so I can’t say emphatically what the root cause of the incident was,” Flynn said. All six employees had minor injuries.
The crane was in the area doing some shutdown work.
Flynn said she believes some of the injured workers were near the crane but she’s not sure if the others were inside the trailer when the crane fell.
The spokeswoman said as soon as Syncrude is still investigating the incident and will provide updates as more details are known.

There were some rude sntilaabour comments earkly suggesting drug use etc. but i kinda liked the one that stated ‘I thought the crane manouver was done on one leg’. I also heard contamination and heard that Leib’s engineers flew in the next day. Syncrude showed some class with roughly 1.5 days paid for doing sane as now. Sent home one day next told upon arrival and paid. Tip ma hat to SCL
