Joey Hundert, Social Entrepreneur

My friend, Joey Hundert, is a social entrepreneur. That is to say, he’s looking for technologies that foster sustainable development. In discussions with him over the past few years, I have heard of many interesting ideas, and have always admired how he views the concept of sustainable development, not as an impediment to economic growth, but as an opportunity to discover new processes and technologies. Here he is, giving a talk on sustainable technologies to the U of A Energy Club.

The link below leads to a short video of a talk I gave last night to engineering & business students at the University of Alberta. These students formed the “Energy Club” at the U of A and collected a panel of speakers, including Mark Anielski (author, economist), Dominic Mishio (youngest Albertan Alderman), Brian Fleck (U of A prof) and myself (LINK). The subject was “Energy and Entrepreneurship” and the discussion that unfolded (140+ in attendance) was truly extraordinary. These are areas that I have given much careful consideration to and it was a pure joy to share some thoughts.

I have engaged about 45 such speaking opportunities over the past few years and this is the first one that I chose to record; truthfully, I recorded it for my Mom because she’s never seen me speak and I wanted to share my reality with her. In any case, this is a little taste of what my world is like and I’m currently deeply enjoying the opportunity to share my gifts. Furthermore, I am deeply committed to assisting in the creation of an empowered community of change agents; this email is also an open invitation for collaboration.
