I don’t think this poll is accurate. People say many, many things, especially online. What they do is completely separate from that.
Albertans willing to pay price to go green
The ranks of those who prize environmental protection are especially strong among Albertans aged 18 to 34, he noted. “They’re very ‘in the now,’ ” he said. “The environment trumps the money and toys right now for many youngsters.”
But with one in six Albertans directly employed by the energy industry, and the province enjoying wealth that still measures favourably against the rest of North America, experts wonder if people are being truthful when they profess to treasure soil, water and trees more than their potential earnings.
“Not for a second,” said Andrew Leach, a professor of energy and environmental economics at the University of Alberta’s school of business. “They value it when it’s free.”
The online poll surveyed 962 Albertans aged 18 and over between Aug. 25-29. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
“Alberta is one of the most beautiful places on the planet and Albertans have an outdoor culture,” said former oilpatch employee Randy Weeks, a Green party candidate in the federal riding of Calgary-West.

Of course everyone want’s to save the environment, that goes without saying, it’s like asking smokers if they know smoking is dangerous. The problem is no one wants to give anything up to do it. Everyone talks a tough game when it comes to the environment, but no one is prepared to walk the walk when they find out they can’t drive their Porsche to work, or sit in line at Starbucks for their latte. After that lame attempt at a “blackout” a while ago, Ontario and Quebec power companies reported record level of power use……the motto shouldn’t be “save the environment”, it should be “Someone save the environment for me”…..

Yeah. If all the hippies in the entire world all shifted their consumption away from oil (this includes nylon ropes and polyethylene used for protest banners), plus they all rode bicycles to the extent that the price of gasoline decreased 50 cents a litre. . . . the rest of us would just drive more.
